Editorial

Dear Readers,

In this issue we consider many aspects of the life of our Lord Jesus Christ, who is “the same yesterday and today and forever” (Hebrews 13:8).* In particular, we look at his interactions with those around him, and think about the practical implications of this for our own lives. We also consider how the Old Testament writers foretold so much about the coming Messiah, and the many Old Testament characters whose lives foreshadowed the work of the Lord Jesus. Meanwhile, in our Q&A section, our authors address some frequently pondered questions about the role of Jesus.

Our regular feature, ‘E-mails to George and Jenny’, is back – this time with advice about choosing a university and making the most of the experience – and we have also included a ‘News’ section which includes articles about the ‘Signs of the Times’ and about the recent UK Youth Conference.

As always, we welcome comments and feedback from our readers, as well as questions and suggestions for future issues of the magazine. You can get in touch with us by e-mailing faithalive@thechristadelphian.com, or alternatively, keep your social media eyes peeled for our upcoming Facebook page where you’ll be able to interact with other readers and share your views.

So before you get stuck into the rest of the magazine, here are some questions to ponder as you read:

  • What was Jesus like, and how can I be more like him?
  • Is there anything that he has commanded, which I do not do?
  • Am I prepared to stand up for what I believe just as Jesus did?
  • What one thing could I do this week to follow more closely in his footsteps?
  • Do I truly appreciate the lengths Jesus went to, to bring me into the family of God?
  • Do I see Jesus in every page of the Old Testament, as well as the New? If not, am I looking closely enough?

Does anything about the role of Jesus – past, present or future – still confuse me? If so, is there someone in my ecclesia who could help me to find the answers, or could I do some personal Bible study on the topic?

In all things, and at all times, let’s “[look] to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God” (12:2).

With love in Christ,
The Faith Alive! Team
